CHAPTER 15 : The Dining Day

"I don't know if it is just with the mind, or anything else. It is unless one keeps it busy with some definite subject that will bridle and control them, it will throw itself in disorder hither and yon in the vague field of imagination. And then there is no mad or idle fancy that it does not bring forth in agitation" Jennifer mumbled it silently over her table to comfort her and left the issue for some other day, she packed her stuff and signed off.

‘Shekhar Calling’ the screen flashed, and she was left with a smile on her face, she picked up the call and heard Roohi from the other side of the phone.

"Hello Aunty, we are right here, down your office." Roohi shouted in excitement. This brought a smile on Jennifer’s face and she rushed down quickly and pushed herself in the car.

Cyrus while waiting down his flat had a flow of several thoughts. He was occupied with fears and a thought crossed his mind “Distrust is like a vicious fire that keeps going and going, even put out, it will reignite itself, devouring the good with the bad, and still feeding on empty, and this is what is making me a victim of myself.”

These were certain thoughts that lingered in the minds of Cyrus only while he was alone, but these only made him prepared and confident for the next time. He never let the person stack up any suspicion over him and law studies only made him bolder.

Cyrus decided to make a ring to Shekhar for he was not feeling comfortable that evening. Shekhar tried to make up his mind to join in at the dining table. Cyrus made a point of reaching the destination on his own. Shekhar somehow agreed and turned the car towards his home.

Roohi and Jennifer were busy with their own enjoyment in the backseat of the car.

Cyrus tried calling Jennifer again to convince her. ‘Cyrus Calling’ is what flashed on Jennifer's phone screen. Her smile straightened immediately for it only disturbed her. She put her phone down and got back to her fun.

The screen again had the flash of ‘Cyrus Calling’ and it only made her anger through her veins. Shekhar from the mirror saw onto the expressions of Jennifer and inquired her if everything was fine with her. Jennifer neglected it down and asked him about the evening plans.

Mr. Ahuja along with his little pup was waiting around for Roohi and Shekhar to reach down soon. He did not want another visit of Shekhar at his doorstep. He was kind enough to pay the visits, rather than inviting anyone down to his residence.

The car arrived. Roohi couldn’t wait to stop and immediately got down to rush to her pup friend. Mr. Ahuja saw another lady walking down the car with a tattoo on her arm that was quite clearly visible from a distance bearing her all cool attitude which did not resemble the high-heeled Tara.  He gave a wicked smile to Shekhar. Shekhar could sense it and made the matter quite casual and normal.

Jennifer made all her efforts to divert her brain and was ready with her most possessive shooting device and began clicking pictures of Roohi, pup and the surroundings. Shekhar and Mr. Ahuja made their way inside the home, discussing about the evening.

Shekhar makes all the arrangements and asked Roohi and Jennifer to make their way inside the home and be a part of the talks over the dining table. Shekhar casually remarked “Happiness is a warm puppy and the most important thing is to enjoy the life and be happy which is what really matters.”

Jennifer interrupted saying “You are right Mr. Shekhar but it is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought of a fool and remove all doubts.”

Mr. Ahuja shared different glances with Shekhar and Jennifer. He decided to stay quiet for a while and then went ahead saying something unusual. After the introduction he was aware of Jennifer being a photography expert and worked at media house.

He said “What really knocks one out is a thing that, when one is done all reading of the writings, one really wishes that the author is his/her friend and call him/her up to whenever the person felt like, which hardly happens though.”

This statement bewildered Shekhar and lead him to think over what made Mr. Ahuja say this. Jennifer in-turn gave a nod to what he said and opined that it was nothing unusual of human nature.

Jennifer and Roohi made way to Roohi’s room and played over there.

The door-bell rang. And a knock followed it.

“Welcome Mr. Cyrus. You have kept us waited for so long.”

As Shekhar said this, Roohi heard the knock and made her way to the drawing room and shouted in excitement “Hello uncle, how have you been? I have been long waiting for you with an empty stomach here. I am so happy to see you here and so my all new friends are here to play around with me!”

Roohi continued “Aunty, uncle and my puppy is here to celebrate the evening. I am so happy!”
